In succession to the Most Rev. Anselm Kenealy, 0.S., F.C., now retired from the Archbishopric of Simla, Mgr. Sylvester (Patrick) Mulligan, of the same Order, has been consecrated as Archbishop of Simla and Delhi.
The consecration was performed in St. Patrick's, the Irish Augustinians' church in Rome. Cardinal Fumasoni-Biondi, Prefect of the Sacred Congregation for the Propagation of the Faith. was the consecrating prelate. Ilk Eminence had as his assistant Bishops two Capuchin prelates, Mgr. Pasetto, titular Bishop of Geras, end Mgr. Santini, titular Bishop of Zama Major.
At a reception following the consecration, the newly-made Archbishop sent the following message to his native country, Ireland: "Privileged to receive the plenitude of the priesthood, our thoughts turn to our religious brethren to whom we arc so much indebted; to our friends and benefactors, whose charity enables us to carry on the missionary apostolate. Fifteen centuries ago St. Patrick was commissioned in Rome to bring the Gospel to lrelend, whose children are still hearing the torch of faith. May the blessing imparted today be a pledge of a fruitful mission to his humble follower,"
