HARMFUL LABELS

TN my opinion much harm is A caused by the growing tendency to label people as traditionalists, modernists and so on. I do not claim to be any of these types. I am a Catholic teacher seeking to present "truth" to the children in my care.

In recent years I must admit that I have been troubled by doubts that were unknown to me in former times. May I venture to suggest that, perhaps this stems. not so much from the contrasting methods mentioned by Father Richards, but because of the lack of some guiding authority of the calibre of the formed Catholic Social Guild.

I always feel that I could appeal to them in confidence concerning the teaching of the church. May I offer a belated "thank you" especially to Fathers Pridgen and Crane, S.J.

M. Cecilia Jones Middlesbrough, Teesside.
