Darts, billiards, physical training, table tennis, boxing, and dominoes, are the most popular indoor sports—in that order— among the people of the Clitterhouse Estate, Hendon.
The National Council of Social Service which is campaigning to set up in all community centres organisations by "hick people can get the best possible benefit from their sports and hobbies has just completed an investigation among seventy-five families on the Clitterhouse Estate and found that among these families no less than ninety-three different pastimes were practised; and the most popular of these pastimes are those which the investigators classify as educational.
First eight in order of popularity are: literature, gardening, knitting, child development, debating, needlework, stage dancing, photography. Most popular sports are Association football. cricket, cycling, hiking, swimming, tennis.
