The Very Rev. Bro. AthanaseEmile, Superior General of the De La Salle Brothers, was presented with " The Legion of Honour " by Mr. Robert Schuman, France's Foreign Secretary. at a ceremony held on July 15 in Paris.
Mr. Schuman spoke of the great work done by the De La Salle Brothers, and added that the French Government was happy to reward in the person of their Superior. the widespread services to education of an institute which, with its 14,000 Brothers, teaches some 398,000 children in some 67 nations.
Among those who attended the ceremony were the Papal Nuncio in Paris, the Vicar Capitular and many members of the Diplomatic Corps.
