Maundy Thursday and Good Friday were celebrated with great fervour throughout Spain, General Franco was congratulated in the throne room of the Alcazar of Seville by military and civil representatives and at a special audience given to Cardinal Segura. He attended Holy Week services in the Cathedral accompanied by his wife and daughter, the Ministers of Government, Education, Public Works, and Sr. Garnero. The Town Council were also present, and Cardinal Segura officiated at the service.
General Franco presided at the procession of the Holy Burial on the night of Good Friday. On Thursday afternoon the ceremony of the washing of the feet was celebrated in the Cathedral. The Cardinal officiated and General Franco and his family attended. In Madrid an imposing manifestation of faith was the procession of the Christ of Medinacell, which had innumerable followers.
