REPAIRS ARE beginning at St Benet's RC Chapel in Merseyside, one of the earli

est Post-Reformation Catholic Chapels in the north-west, with assistance from English Heritage and the Archdiocese of Liverpool.


STEPHEN BARNES, Press Officer of the Church Army and a member of the Tooting

Deanery Synod, was killed in a car accident on the 23rd of July. His funeral will take place on the 5th of August at 2pm at Stapenhill Parish Church, Burton on Trent.


A DISPLAY OF 600 Ethiopian Crosses from the 18th and 19th centuries is being displayed at the Maria Andipa & Son Icon gallery in London. The crosses are

priced between £50 and £350. Each piece has been worked by hand from melted Maria Theresa dollars, minted in the 19th century.


AT A CONFERENCE on "the suffering Church in the Muslim World" the Anglican Bishop of Sokoto in Nigeria called for Christians to show solidarity with fellow-believers in the world.
