MONKS' RELICS FOUND IN DEAN'S GARDEN

From Our Own Correspondent Tombs of Benedictine monks have been disturbed during the digging up of the Dean of Durham's garden in connection with a new heating system in the deanery.

One of the coffins exposed contained a well-preserved skull with a Benedictine cowl. The garden was formerly a burial place of the monks and the relics have been reinterred.
