New Stafford Church

From Our Own Correspondent

Work is expected to start next year on a new church for St: Patrick's, Stafford, at an estimated cost of £25,000. This was announced this week by the Rev. Bernard Kelly. the parish priest. The site for the new church was bought 26 years ago and during the past six years £7.000 has been raised towards the cost. The new church will be built on land adjoining the primary schoolpart of which serves as the present church-and will seat 400 people. The architect is Mr. E. B. 'Norris, F.R.I.B.A., a local Catholic, who also designed St. Joseph's Convent. Stafford, and several other Staffs Catholic churches. The proposed church is to be in the Romanesque style and will have a 70-foot high belfry in which a carillon will be installed.

Fr. Kelly announced that work would begin next year if permission was obtained.
