Mgr. Vincent Gelat, Apostolic Administrator of the Jerusalem Patriarchate, has been appointed Auxiliary Bishop for the See. He becomes the first Arab Bishop of the Latin rite to serve in the patriarchate in a century. He will he Auxiliary to Archbishop Gustave Testa, who besides being Apostolic Delegate to Jerusalem, has been appointed Regent Ordinary of the Jerusalem Patriarchate. Mgr. Gelat was consecrated in the patriarchal cathedral here on June 27. He was born in Jaffa, Palestine, in 1885, and was ordained in 1908.
