Saying it with flowers

The Festival of Corpus Christi was observed at Arundel Cathedral again this year with the, famous carpet of flowers. The tradition was established over a hundred years ago and has been carried out every year since apart from during the First World War.

A procession, with children scattering flowers in front of the Blessed Sacrament proceeded from the Cathedral to the grounds of Arundel Castle where Benediction of the Blessed Sacrament was given. The procession then returned to the Cathedral where a further, final Benediction was given.

Bishop Cormac Murphy-O'Connor officiated and carried the Blessed Sacrament in the procession. The Duke of Norfolk was one of the canopy bearers.
