An international Catholic athletics meeting, the first to be held in this country, is to be arranged this year by the new Catholic Students' Sports Federation.
It is hoped that Austria, Belgium, France, Ireland. the Lebanon, Luxernbourg and Spain, who have formerly sent competitors to meetings on the Continent, will send representatives to England.
Aimed at establishing the sporting and athletic activities of Catholic schoolboys and students on a national basis, the federation was formed at a meeting called by Bishop Beck and attended by representatives of several Catholic grammar schools at St. Mary's College, Strawberry Hill.
Bishop Beck was elected president and Fr. K. Cronin, C.M., Principal of St. Mary's College, chairman.
