THE ASHLEY GROUP

SIR,-Your appreciation which led to the publishing of a photo of the head of Christ from a woodcarving of Christ Crucified by David John seems to point to this time as opportune to inform your readers that slowly there is coming into being a group of people. artists mainly but patrons as well, who are sufficiently concerned with the state into which contemporary religious art has fallen to wish to do something about it. David John is one of the younger artists in the Ashley group about Whose aspirations and plans will be said when the maturing season is over.
