THE Holy Father praised the humanitarian service of the International Refugee Organiz ation in a message read at the opening of the 8th general I.R.O. Council meeting in Geneva.
The Holy Father's message was timed to coincide with the introduction to the council of Alex Ranczay, who will be the 1,000.000th displaced person settled by the 11.R.O. since it began operations in 1948.
The IR.O, is scheduled to close down at the end of this year. Mr. Ranezay was introduced to the council by Fr. Edward Killion, C.SS.R., the representative of the Holy See to the 1.R.O.
Mr. Ranczay is scheduled to arrive in the United States under the sponsorship of War Relief Services—National Catholic Welfare Conference. A home and job for him has been found by the organisation in Midland, Texas.
It is reported that impressive ceremonies commemorating the resettlement of the 1.000,000th D.P. are to be held in New York and in Washington. D.C.
