APROGRAMME, to educate youths of Lithuanian descent in more than half a doeen countries to serve as priests in Lithuania when con di I ions in that now virtually priestless country permit is being put into operation.

Cardinal Spellman. Archbishop of New York, has been named honorary president of a committee in charge of the project. it was announced in New York by Fr. Joseph B. Konclos, committee executive director and general secretary.

Three exiled Lithuanian prelates are officers of the committee. They are: Archbishop Joseph Skvireckas, of Kaunas. president; Bishop Vincent Padolskis, former Administrator of Vilkaviskis. vice-president; and Bishop Vincent Brien's, Auxiliary of Kaunas, treasurer.

Other committee members arc Mgri. A. Hriska and P. lures and the Revv. J. Karaiius and E. Gradeckas.

Father Koncius said there are some 1,000.000 persons. of Lithuanian descent in the United States; about 100.000 in South American countries: some 20,000 in Britain and 20.000 in Canada. He said the programme will be carried on in the U.S.A.. Britain, Canada, Australia, New Zealand and Latin-American nations.
