Parts of France Without Priests or Mass

Many French papers recently have commented on the dearth of priests in France. The Figaro in art article on the subject spoke of the urgent necessity for demobilising priests and permitting those evacuated to return to their parishes, The paper reports many villages and small towns are entirely without religious services.

Not unconnected with this lack of priests and religious services may be the recent foundation of the Youth organisation " Compagnons de France," saying that the country is full of vagrant youths who, having been evacuated, cannot get home and have nowhere even to sleep.
