THE silhouette of a 15th century cross guards the main street of Inveraray, the -capital of the Campbell Clan .since for six centuries. Inverarary as it stands today was built at the end of the Jacobite period, when the Campbells had triumphed Over those in Hit Highlands -who wished to preserve the traditional way of life and keep out mercantalism.
