CATHOLIC PARTY AND PUBLIC MORALS Belgium's Hour of Peril

From Our Own Correspondent

ANTWERP.

" Order in the State " is the theme for the November Congress of the Bloc Catholiquc Beige, the Catholic political organisation.

The B.C.B. Directorate inaugurated new premises on Saturday at Brussels, after a blessing performed by Canon Boone. They are larger and well appointed to cope with the B/oc's growing scope.

The first part of the programme concerns budget and economic policy. It drastically sums up the points where disorder reigns and outlines how order can be restored.

The second part is an eloquent summing up by the Directorate of how moral defence is to be set up. The evil of betting, the showing oi obscene the lack of decency at the seaside and holiday resorts, are comprised in the moral defence scheme.

Belgian public opinion overwhelmingly, as does every Christian conscience, appeals to the Public Authorities to redouble vigilance and come to the moral protection of families and of youth.

The Directorate calls on all authorities to see that laws and regulations are applied to safeguard morals.

" When the country is about face peril from without, it must see that the Christian traditions that honour Belgium are maintained intact. At this hour of peril, the moral safeguarding of the nation is Imperative."
