Maltese Dominican Gains Doctorate in Sacred Scripture

Fr. Serafin Zarb, 0.P., successfully defended his thesis submitted for the doctorate in Sacred Scripture before the Pontifical Biblical Commission and in the presence of four Cardinals.

The examination was held in the Vatican, and many hundreds of students attended.

This degree is rare, and to the only other two persons In the British Empire who possess it (Fr. Hugh Pope, 0.P., and Dr. W. Leonard, of Sydney), there is now added a third.

AT THE " ANGELICUM " Fr. Zarb is Prefect of Studies at the Pontifical International Institute of Studies in Rome, Angelifum, and has been engaged for several years on his thesis, the title of which is: " The Canon and Text of the books of the Bible in the writings of St Augustine."
