NEW POLISH ENVOY TO VATICAN Seven Polish Sees Still Vacant

M. Kazimierz Papee has been appointed Polish Ambassador to the Holy See. His appointment has been approved by the Vatican, it is announced in Warsaw.

M. Papee, before his present appointment, was the Polish CommissionerGeneral in Danzig, and Ambassador in Prague. The Polish Ambassadorship in the Vatican has been vacant for nearly two years.

It is expected in Polish ecclesiastical circles that following the recent visit of the Papal Nuncio, Mgr. Cortesi, to Rome, the new Archbishop of Warsaw will be appointed. This post has been vacant since the death of Cardinal Kakowski in December, 1938.

There are also six other episcopal vacancies to be filled in Poland, and the appointments to these are also expected shortly.
