POPE BLESSES LEGION OF MARY Letter from Cardinal Pizzardo

The Pope has sent his blessing and encouragement to the officers and members of the Legion of Mary.

Mr John Nagle, President of the Legion, Dublin, has received a letter from Cardinal Pizzardo, head of world Catholic Action, in which the Cardinal writes' " The Holy Father recalled with pleasure the spirit of affectionate and humble devotion which inspired you and Mr Duff to come to the feet of the Vicar of Christ, so soon after his elevation to the Chair of St. Peter, in order to assure him of the spirit of loyalty towards the Holy See which animates the Legion, and of its solemn intention of remaining always faithful to the instructions and wishes of the Bishops.

" The Holy Father then asked me to convey to all the officers and members of the Legion of Mary his Apostolic Blessing, and to urge them on to even greater efforts for the glory of God and the extension of Christ's Kingdom on earth.

" For my part I assure you of my great admiration for the work of the Legionaries, who serve under the noble banner of Our Lady . . . Most especially do I admire the work which the Legionaries are accomplishing in the Mission Lands, in Africa and India, where they have placed themselves at the disposal of several of the Bishops for the works of the apostolate. . . ."
