THE ADOPTION service of the Catholic Children's Society, Nottingham, has been named a centre of excellence by the Social Services Inspectorate.
The agency, known as Families Are Best, which specialises in placing children for adoption from local authority care, underwent an inspection in October last year.
The resulting report commended the "significant contribution being made to the development of Adoption services regionally, nationally and internationally".
Director Margaret Dight said: "It is pleasing to have external confirmation of the high quality of Adoption Services provided for children and families by the Society. We have worked hard to achieve the best standards of practice."
The inspectors identified excellence in all areas of the agency's work, including the assessment and preparation of adoptive families and the quality of post placement and post-adoption support.
