Sailing to Hell itself

THE BARQUE OF THE BROTHERS, by Hans Baumann (Oxford University Press, 121. 6d.).

THE small barque of the brothers 1' is the fishing boat, almost the only thing left to the young Tinoco and Aires when their father is drowned off the coast of Portugal. The great barque of the brothers is the vessel of the Portuguese Infantes in which they made journeys of exploration down the coast of Africa, ieto Hell itself as many people thought. The young brothers leave their native village and grow to manhood in the service of Henry the Navigator, [his historical novel is presented in a series for young people. but it is good enough to deserve an even wider public.
