I FIND Miss Angela Mason's attack (Catholic Herald, June 19) on the reported views of Mr Nicholas Coote (Catholic Herald, June 12) somewhat incomprehensible.
As I read your report she misrepresents him because, in referring to the High Court decision on abortion for a mentally handicapped woman, Mr Coote said that this matter . is not a medical question. It's an ethical question."
So when Miss Mason says: "The issue is neither a clinical not a medical one," what is she complaining about? The quotation that she does give would seem to refer in general terms to all three recent cases.
It is people who allow their heart to overrule the use of reasoned argument who can make it more difficult to change the judgement of politicians who mainly are not practicing Christians and who further do not currently accept that the Fifth Commandment is relevant to either abortion or to embryo research.
