IT COMES as somewhat of a surprise to read that Cardinal Hume (Catholic Herald, June 26) has given "unequivocal support" to Department of Education plans to have "AIDS Education" to 11 year olds.
If, contrary to the views expressed by many parents, the cardinal feels that Aids/HIV education is a good thing, one wonders why he waited until the Department of Education suggested it, and did not inaugurate it in Catholic schools himself.
And whether he feels that it is equally important to teach Catholic youngsters something about natural family planning? Anne Mason Norbury HOW OPEN in spirit was Cardinal Hume's letter on sex education. In its dignified yet sympathetic tone, the letter merits the highest praises!
