The first

priest of all IN recent discussion in your column, and elsewhere, on the issues of women priests and married priests, one important point has to my mind been overlooked.

Surely Mary was the first priest of the New Covenant!

Did she not make God present on the altar of our planet in the person of Jesus Christ, her Son?

It was she who first prepared Him for sacrifice and offered Him up on behalf of us all.

Mary was a woman. Mary was married.
