The 4th International Festival of Sacred Music & Art at the Vatican City

Tuesday 22nd to Sunday 27th November 2005

In the unique setting of the Vatican basilicas St. Paul outside the Walls,

St. John Lateran and St. Mary Major, such world famous musicians as the Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra, the London Philharmonic Orchestra and La Venexiana will perform at this year’s festival.

It opens on the Wednesday 23rd November with a Solemn Mass celebrated in St.

Peter’s Basilica with Gregorian chant sung by Cappella Musicale della Basilica di San Pietro (“Cappella Giulia”). On Thursday the London Philharmonic Orchestra and Choir perform Rossini’s “Stabat Mater”; and on Friday, Monteverdi’s “Vespers of the Blessed Virgin” are sung by “La Venexiana”, an ancient music ensemble with an international reputation.

The final event on Saturday is a performace of Bruckner’s, “Te Deum” and Symphony no. 9 by the Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra and Singers conducted by Seiji Ozawa. The 6-day tour departs from London on Tuesday 22nd November and the price is £998 per person (twin share) and £1148 in a single room.

It includes: return British Airways flights, airport taxes of £42, transfers, five nights’ accommodation at the four star Nova Domus Hotel, admission to the concerts, a guided tour of Rome and the services of a tour manager. The tour is arranged by Arena Holidays Ltd (ATOL 3770), one of the UK’s oldest and most experienced specialist tour operators.
