The Mayor of St. Ives and the chairmar, of the West Periwith Rural Council, both non-Catholics, attended the annual garden fete in the grounds of St. Michael's Hospital, Hayle, Cornwall, which last Thursday raised a record sum of £2,470 towards the cost of the £70,000 new theatre block shortly to be opened.

The Mayor presented to the Sister Superior a cheque for £100 from the St. Ives' Friends of St. Michael's. who to date have collected over £10,000 for the hospital.
