30,000,000 PRAY FOR PERSECUTED

TN all the churches in the United I States on Sunday 30.000,000 Catholics prayed for the Catholic victims of Red persecution behind the Iron Curtain.

The day was chosen because it was the Sunday nearest to the anniversary of the maityrdom or St. Thomas a Becket. The Hierarchy recalled that the saint died because he opposed Henry II, interference in ecclesiastical affairs.

" The Voice of America " has been broadcasting to the Iron Curtain countries the text of the Hierarchy's recent resolution which said: " The Bishops of the United States of America proclaim before the world their boundless admiration for those heroes of our common Faith, the Bishops. priests, religious and faithful behind the Iron Curtain of Europe and Asia who are giving their lives and their blood for Christ and for the ideals of human freedom."
