NEW HOME STARTED IN JAMAICA

HEARTFE1 .1 thanks to THE CAUL °Etc Hi RAI n readers who contributed so generously towards relief of the orphan children of Jamaica made homeless in last August's hurricane have been received from the Mother Superior of Kingston's Alpha Orphanage.

In response to the wish expressed by many readers that the money he used especially for the chldren, Bishop McEleney. Si.. Vicar Apostolic of Jamaica. has sent £1.085 and a dollar cheque to the Sisters of Mercy towards the £40,000 needed for the reconstruction of their orphanage.

'The ground was broken this morning for the commencement of the small boys' dormitory, writes the Mother Superior, " we hope this will soon be completed as our little boys and girls have been living in very crowded conditions since August.

" With a heart full of gratitude and appreciation I wish to thank you for all you have done towards our relief after the hurricane by publishing the appeal in Tim CATHOLIC HERALD and also thank our dear friends for their wonderful response.

" I would like to write a personal letter to thank each donor. You will all be remembered in our prayers and those of the children.

" May the good Lord shower His choicest blessings and graces on you all."
