No. 10
Vigil group take a statue of Our Lady
FOR the third year in succession `. members. of the All-Night Vigil Group gatheredfor three hours to pray the Now Year in at the Church of the Assumption. Warwick Street, in the West End of London whilst Piccadilly, despite the rain, revelled. Fr. Reginald Fuller led the final Rosary and gave the pilgrims his blessing at midnight.
Before the vigil ended, a group of eight men went with a statue of Our Lady of Fatima from Warwick Street to Downing Street. There, sheltering under the arches opposite No. 10, they unwrapped the statue and placed it on the pavement whilst the pilgrims said the Rosary at midnight.
Downing Street was dark and silent; not a single light showed.
A taxi brought two women pilgrims in time to join in the final decade.
When the group rose to their feet they found the taxi driver standing alongside them and heard him say: " It's the nicest thing 1 have ever seen."
