The Bishop of Plymouth was at Syon Abbey, South Brent, on May 24, to receive the solemn vows of Sister M. Veronica of Jesus Crucified (Miss Joan Kempson), second daughter of Lieutenant-Colonel Kempson, D.S.O., and Mrs. Kempson, of Windlesham, Surrey. The ceremony was according to the special Bridgettine rite. His lordship pontificated at the High Mass. Mgr. Morrissy wa.s his Assistant Priest; Canon Leo and Dom John Stdphan, 0.S.B., were the deacon and sub-deacon: the deacons at the Throne were Canons Gaynor and Ryan; the Master of Cere
monies was the Rev. G. Ford, D.D. In the sanctuary were also Canon .1. R. Fletcher and the. Revv. M. Weddick (chaplain to the nuns), E. O'Mahoney and J. M. Twohig.
The Bishop preached. After the long ceremony. which finished with the Te Drum, the guests were entertained to luncheon. They included LieutenantColonel and Mrs. Kempson and Miss Lesley Kempson, parents and sister of the newly-professed nun.
