Statistics printed in the Australian Catholic Directory show that in Australia at the present time there are 1,826 priests, 934 Brothers, and 9,510 women religious. Besides the five Catholic Universities the Church has in the country 460 secondary and 1,065 elementary schools. This is an increase, respectively, of 55 and 60 on the preceding year's total.

Australia's Catholic population is given as about 1,253,000 souls.
