US Church move against apartheid

More than 15 American Church organisations, including a number of Catholic religious orders, have filed stockholders' motions requesting five American banks to prohibit bank loans to South Africa.

Inc value of combined Church investments in the five banks is estimated at about £6 million, and their resolutions called for an end to loans "unless and until the South African Government has committed itself to ending the legally enforced form of racism called apartheid."
