World spending on arms £217,000m

The nations of the world spent 5371,000 million (about 1217.000 million) on arms in 1975, according to an American Government report. This was fairly close to thh. amount reported spent in 1974, but showed a large increase over the 10year period from 1966. The figures are contained in a report issued by the United States Arms Control and Disarmament Agency entitled "World Military Expednit tires and Arms Transfers, 1966-1975".
