Michael's

A record total of £494 — £200 more than last year -was raised by the annual Michaelmas houseto-house collection in the borough of St. Ives, Cornwall. by the Friends of St. Michael's Hospital, Hayle, which is run by the Daughters of the Cross and which is the only independent hospital in the duchy.

A special appeal was made this year for the £70,000 new theatreblock which is now being built. On Sunday. a "Week's Good Cause" appeal for the hospital is being made on the BBC West Home Service by Group Captain Leonard Cheshire, V.C. — a former patient of St. Michael's.
