2 Osservatores ' in one day

The Vatican newspaper Osservatore Romano was not published on Monday because of circulation difficulties caused by the May-Day holiday.

But two editions were published on Tuesday-one in the morning, as well as the usual afternoon edition.

Vatican City workers usually enjoy more holidays thah those in Italy. There was no general holi4ay in Vatican City on May-Day, however, least of all for the Pope, who continued his heavy programme of private, special and group audiences for Holy Year pilgrims.

Apart from several private and special audiences, he granted 52 group audiences.
