'INDIA PROTECTS ALL RELIGIONS'

Defending the secular character of India in the Indian Parliament last week Pundit Nehru, Prime Minister of India, said that this did not mean that religion ceased to be an important factor in the private life of the individual.

" It means that the state and religion are not tied together," he said, " It simply means the repetition of the cardinal doctrine of modern democratic practice, the separation of the state from religion, and the full protection of every religion."
