Mr. Francis Tolhurst honoured at home

IN his home at Gravesend, 80year-old Mr. Francis Joseph Tolhurst has received from Bishop Cowderoy of Southwark the insignia of the Knighthood of St. Gregory the Great. conferred upon him by the Holy Father in recognition of his outstanding work for the Church.

Mr. Tolhurst, the last surviving 'child of Alfred and Sarah Ann Tolhurst, has completed the work that the family has done for the past 100 years.

The children built the fine church at Northfleet in memory of these parents 40 years ago. to the design of Sir Giles Gilbert Scott, and last July the Bishop went to Northfleet to bless the new reredos which had been erected largely through the efforts of MT. TO11111rSt.
