THE Vatican may be forced to revise its document on theology and justice despatched to episcopal conferences last year. For it appears to have sparked a bishops' rebellion.
So far, according to unofficial Vatican reports, only Mexico has declared itself in full accord with the paper, which includes a questionnaire for bishops and is designed as an operational guideline for conferences.
Although it was compiled mainly on the basis of papal directives, United States bishops have asked the Vatican to formulate a new paper.
