British Hierarchy's flood relief gift IN the name of the Hierarchy of England and Wales, Cardinal Griffin has sent £6,000 to Cardinal de Jong. Archbishop of Utrecht, for the rdlief of flood distress in Holland, Cardinal de jong, replying, expresses great gratitude of the Catholics of Holland to the Catholics of this country who have remembered the needs of their Dutch brethren even though so much damage has been sustained in this country.
He asks that the gratitude of the Dutch Bishops and people be extended to the Catholics of England and Wales for their great generosity.
The various sums received by Cardinal Griffin from Hierarchies and Catholic relief organisations abroad have now been allocated to the Bishops of Northampton, Nottingham, Brentwood and Southwark, for the relief of flood distress in their dioceses.
