VIGR. Alexander Jones, one AYI of Britain's leading biblical scholars, has died in a Liverpool hospital. aged 64. The crowning work of his career was the ten years he spent in editing the English edition of the Jerusalem Bible.
He etuslied at Uphollancl Seminary, I ancashire, at Fame and at the Ecole Biblique in Jerusalem. Ordained in 1933 he taught at Upholland for 2.3 years. For five years he %VAS, head of ihe divinity department of Christ's College of Education, I ivrpool.
He was chaplain at St. Vincent's School for the blind and partially sighted. Liverpool. He becarne a papal chamberlain in 1969.

Fr. John Constantine Hug, on October 26. while preparing to say Mass at Notre Dame Convent at Teignmouth, Devon, a few days after becoming parish priest of Our Lady and St. Petrick, Teignmouth. Requiem Mass was at the Visitation Convent, Bridport. followed by the funeral at Brislport Cemetery.
