MORE THAN 20,000 young people are expected to converge on Westminster Cathedral for five days, beginning on December 28. as part of an ecumenical "pilgrimage of reconciliation" being organised by the French-based Taize community.
Young people from all over Europe, but mainly from the British Isles. will meet in London as the culmination of the event which will begin all over Britain in cities as far apart as Aberdeen. Bristol and Dublin. St Paul's Cathedral and Westminster Abbey will also be used as centres of mid-day and evening prayer. According to one spokesman, when regular services are not likely to be affected.
Last year. thousands gathered in Rome for a similar pilgrimage.
