Deadly as the atom bomb

`In a striking and strongly worded editorial on "Peace," France's Catholic daily newspaper, La Croix, has condemned the Communist peace campaign and urged French Catholics to counteract it by a Christian campaign "of sincerity, loyalty and respect."

" The Church serves the cause of . . peace . because she upholds truth,

justice, freedom and charity against lying, injustice, despotism apd hatred," says the article. " If we, as individuals. are perhaps uneasy because we have not done all we could and should have done, as Christians, that is no reason for labouring under an inferiority complex . .

Contrasting the Christian ideal with the current Communist cam

paign, the article declares: " The gravest assault against peace that has been committed for a long time— as grave in our view as the menace of the atomic bomb—is this fraudulent Stockholm Appeal, this violation of consciences and freedom, this twisting of humanitarian feeling."
