Leaving Beda post MONSIGNOR PETER WHITTY. vice-rector of the Pontifical Beda College. Rome since 1945, has been appointed by Archbishop Heenan as parish priest of St. Dominic's Church, Huyton, Liverpool.
Ordained for the Liverpool Archdiocese in 1935 after studying at the English College. Lisbon, Mgr, Whitty went to the Beda College for post-graduate studies. The following year he returned to Lisbon as a professor. When the Beda College was returning to Rome after the war Mgr. Whitty accepted Monsignor Duchemin's invitation to succeed Dr. Halsall as vice-rector, when the latter became auxiliary bishop. He was mstcle a Privy Chamberlain to the Holy Father in 1948.
St, Dominic's is a parish of 8,000 people in Huyton about six miles from the centre of Liverpool. It is in the middle of a vast housing estate that sprang up between the two world wars.
