SIR' Is there as yet, any
organised intercession by the Society of St. Vincent de Paul or any other body for the early beatification of Anthony Frederic Ozanam whose cause was introduced four years ago ?
In this age of the lay Apostolate, Frederic Ozanam has much to teach us. Not only is his life a constant reminder that, as St. James tells us, faith is made perfect by works, but his successful combination of the duties of a devoted husband and a dedicated apostle serves as a complete refutation of the error which maintains that the two vocations are incompatible and has, in consequence, been responsible for preventing so many from assuming their rightful role in the Apostolate.
Ozanam, too, was one of the few Catholics in the 19th century who foresaw and tried to avert what has been described as the tragedy of that century, the Church's loss of the working classes Ion Henderson 100, Boileau Road, Ealing, W.5.
Every weekly conference of SVP Brothers throughout the world ends with a prayer for the beatification of Frederic Ozanam. This prayer is also recited at the conclusion of quarterly and festival meetings of the Society. It is to he found in the prayer book for the Brothers, a copy of which is obtainable from the Society's offices at 54, Victoria Street, London. S.W.1.-EDITOR C.H.
