English Priest to be Vice-Consul

A unique appointment has been made in respect of an English priest, Fr. Harry Smith, a Holy Ghost missionary, having been named honorary British Vice-Consul at Port-au-Prince, Haiti Republic, with a certificate of nomination from Mr. Anthony Eden, the Foreign Secretary. He was ordained in France in 1931, and has worked for a number of years in Haiti.

"I wanted to burn the altars so that there wouldn't be any more Masses," said a 10years-old boy at Rochdale Juvenile Court on Tuesday. He set fire to St. John's Church, Rochdale, causing £600 damage.
