Catholic V.C. dies in Sydney

Cardinal Gilroy, Archbishop of SscIncy. last week presided at a Solemn Requiem Mass in Sydney for Bede Kenny. first Australian Catholic to win the Victoria Cross, who died aged 56.

A veteran of World War I, Mr.

Kenny was awarded the V.C. for outstanding bravery in France, where he served with the Second Battalion of the Australian Imperial Forces. He was for many years one of the four men who carried the statue of Our Lady in the annual May Day procession at the college which he had attended years ago.
