Verona `overflow' goes to Scotland

NEW foundation at Auldgirth, Dumfries, has just been opened by the Verona Fathers to train further missionaries for Africa and South America, The new house will he a junior seminary taking some of the strain off the present juniorate at Mirfield, Yorkshire. Opened only three years ago Mirfield is overflowing and many boys are now being turned away.

Starting work in England in 1947 with one small house in London the Verona Fathers spread first to Sunningdale, Berkshire, and then to Stillington, Yorkshire. Stillington was later replaced by the new modern college at Mirfield in 1960. and now to Scotland.

An advance group of one priest and two brothers already at work at Auldgirth, will soon be joined by a party of missionary lay brothers from Sunningdale.

The Verona Fathers also have a Chaplaincy for Italian workers at Bradford, and a parish at Elm Park, Essex.
