PETER KING, at the Everyman Theatre, Hampstead, is producing on Sunday, December 18, e mime version of " The Juggler of Notre Dame."
This well-known Catholic legend of the medieval juggler who entertained the Holy Child by performing tricks for Him in church, but was thrown out for so doing by a fierce and uncomprehending sacristan, has had various dramatic interpretations, including a film version. In Mr King's version the juggler creeps furtively to the Manger, where Our Lady's kindness tempts him to try his trick's tentatively, and then afterwards with the whole abandon of the artist, until the Holy Child laughs and claps His hands. At this point a churchwarden interferes.
