Mother Teresa's hopes dim

MOTHER TERESA has failed to find even one donor in India to set up an AIDS care centre, social workers said last week.

The Nobel Peace prize laureate visited Bombay last weekend to raise funds for the centre. Her pleas fell on deaf ears, according to a nun from her Missionaries of Charity order, who said this week that Mother Teresa "was disappointed" that she could not buy a plot of land in the city of 12.5 million people, made especially vulnerable to AIDS by its huge prostitute population.

Mother Teresa was looking for a plot in the heart of Bombay where land can sell for £600 per square foot.
